Tile notifications sent to your app can use both wide templates and square templates. Thus, it's up to the app developer to implement the optional large tile mode for the apps. I google my problems, see they are common so either the virus is common or the bugs are. However, they people generating icons are not often the guys running Visual Studio! And bing:ing the web only finds either the icon sizes for Windows 8. For tips on how to generate these images, please refer to Optimize images for different screen resolutions.
Keep in mind that Visual Studio will postfix your images with the scaling level, so just name them so that you know which image is which, and they will be automatically renamed when added as visual assets. Now go write those apps! Just remember to make pretty icons. Please note though that you should probably redesign your tiles for the different sizes — a detailed logo is not suitable for the subpx sizes.

The three first one are for the live tiles, on the start menu.
Once you are logged into your account, right click on the tile that you want to resize to reveal a set of options. Click on this option to be able to resize the tile that you had clicked on to the size that you want it to be. Clicking on the resize option will reveal different sizes that you can choose when you want to resize the tiles on your start menu. The options are large, wide, medium and small.
Choose the size that you feel is appropriate. Do you want to resize more than one tile on your screen? You should just follow the same steps that you followed to resize the first tile.
