I built a provisional bed AND cot and slept in them until my sim got up and then I went right to the portal and it still says I don't have enough energy. I can't build any better of a bed and I can't really do anything in the game until I get through there because one of the hieroglyphics is in the South River Jungle which I don't have access to yet and I assume I'll get acces to by going through one of the portals.
