Color us impressed. F1 was a game that made us smile the moment we realized that Codemasters has addressed most of the CPU performance issues that plagued its predecessors. F1 is also one of the few games that benefits from a fourth CPU core, so kudos to the Codies for further optimizing this particular racing series. The EGO engine is finally taking advantage of quad-cores, though there are still some graphical options that are not being handled by the GPU.
Dual-core owners will be able to enjoy this F1 game, and there are a number of settings to tweak in order to bring performance to your liking. And yes, we have to admit that we were really impressed with Codemasters. Contrary to other companies, the Codies have actually improved their EGO engine.
There are still some CPU scaling issues, however Codemasters is heading towards the right direction. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The game is powered by Dunia, takes advantage of multi-cores, runs amazingly well and looks great. As its predecessor did, Blood Dragon offers a nice variety of graphics options to tweak. The game has a unique look, though we were hoping for something more.
Therefore, we strongly suggest avoiding using anything higher than 2xMSAA. Battlefield 4. Battlefield 4 is — at this point — a mixed bag. Although Frostbite 3 is incredible, the game itself still suffers from major issues. While the game performed well with its second update, its third update had a huge negative impact on our framerate. According to the latest reports, the Mantle update will be rolled out on January.
While we are certain that Frostbite 3 is a great engine, Battlefield 4 — in its current form — does not live up to its predecessor. Okay okay, it works fine in SP mode but who will buy BF4 for that mode? Simply put, BF4 still faces major issues. Apart from that, the game performs great on older PC systems, though it is not as optimized as we had hoped to.
And if the driving sections are any indication then we can safely say that Need For Speed: Rivals will not be as demanding as most people believe it to be. Ah, Metro: Last Light. No, I mean graphical features that go beyond the capabilities of consoles. PCs don't have generations. Single parts get incrementally better one by one and you have to purchase them one by one. Most multiplatform games are dependent on consoles. Aside from higher res, Fps and maybe a couple of shiny effects, they'll be the pretty much same once XB1 and PS4 launch.
PC's very much do have 'generations' AMD's R9 x is very much a 'new' generation of graphics cards A video to separating them would be cool. Im shocked that id software's Rage wasn't mentioned. Some of the best graphics seen on console imo. I still cant find a game with environments the size of crysis 1 with its dense jungle yet in a game, deserved to be on that list.
In fact it was not even on the list retard. You do know those real life and Crysis pics were doctored to make them match. Its extremely demanding but looks utterly insane.
Driveclub and Forza 5 aren't even close to be honest from what I have seen of them. Talking perfect motion blur, loads of realistic 3D trees, super high resolution wet tarmac reflections, amazing shadows cast by spontaneous lightning bolts. Phenomenal water sheeting across the road and spotting on the paintwork of the cars. Metro last light looks great! Beyond: Two Souls needs to be in the list of best looking games in Beyond has amazing mocap that brings characters to life, and detailed and colorful environments, but it also definitely has low res textures and jaggies.
Those pics are not CGI CGI will never have lowpoly meshes and edges CGI polycount is unlimited. I played the game and in the actual gameplay u can zoom on someones face and see the details No wonder i got 7 disagrees people talk about things they don't understand. Beyond does look good. For a game that chops off a third of your screen height. It's clever really. Gives it a more cinematic feel while conserving resources for AA, particles, and whatnot. Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light look very good.
The residue does not. Killzone Shadow Fall and Battlefield 4 will also look quite nice, but they have no chance if you compare them with Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light.
Battlefield 3 is a very very beautiful game. I would place it on par with Crysis 3 and just above metro last light. KZ:SF will probably come close though- damn impressive for a console title.
In fact, the open-world graphics are so extensively detailed and lifelike, one could easily spend hours upon hours just driving around the city admiring and appreciating the little corner shops, street life and small alleyways. The greatest graphical moments in this open-world blockbuster have got to be the nighttime missions.
You have the extraordinary pleasure of experiencing a vibrant and active environment combined with an incredibly 'wet'-looking yet realistically lit set to unleash your inner samurai in. Oliver McQuitty Contributor. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.
