Norton autoprotect problem

I am new to this and was hoping someone could give me some answers. I have the same question 0. Reg: Apr Kudos 1 Stats. Let us know if this fixed your problem. Stu Guru Norton Fighter What version are you running? Im trying to figure out how to tell what version it is? I just ran LiveUpdate again.

I was hoping that it would provide a solution to the problem that I'm experiencing. But no, it stated that the software is up to date, How can I fix this? Easily fixed. Buy NAV NAV is 8 years old and way out dated. Live Update only updates the defenitions and not the program it self when a new version comes out. Every single security company out there comes out with a new version every year.

So please upgrade to NAV Also whats it your OS? What are you using for a firewall? You are the 2nd person today who is saying that there NAV has sort of stopped working. There may be a problem with updating to a more current Norton product since this old computer may not meet the minimun requirements for a newer program. You say that it has been doing ok till now, but the engine of the old program is not capable of finding the new types of malware out there. Just so you know, I've been working on this for a client just today with the same problem.

It seems to be a problem with the latest virus definitions. Must have been sometime this week that something changed. Unfortunatley my client is running Windows 9x and can't use a newer program.

That's just what the other person said. Maybe your client is here talking about his computer also. Dido everything in the original post, identical. I'm scrambling around. If anyone figures this out, please post it. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a 1. Powerdown time is longer too, with the warning that Windows can't close ccApp. Sometimes it won't even allow me to manually abort it. Then I have to do a hard shutdown. During bootup I sometimes receive erroneous warnings that my firewall is down.

Also the toolbar background for Internet Explorer turns black and I'm unable to read the toolbar buttons. My main gripe though, is the bootup and powerdown times. Are they running a virus scan during bootup? Is there any way to customize the bootup process? One I own, and two are client computers. I came here to see if I am the only one. It makes sence now.. I restored a drive image on one of the rigs and the error went away. The client called to say it was back the next morning when booting.

Interestingly, the same set of updates are causing problems with the Symantec antivirus corporate 8x side as well I realize the the software is old but is still needed on these older rigs I deal with. Some are old crumby laptops that have a specific role in an organization plc programming, etc and are just fine for field machines to perform the task.

New er equipment, I run and recommend Yes, Symantec employees do monitor and some times post in the threads. They are the ones with their names in RED. Additionally for me, it brought my internet Explorer down to a crawl at best and now I have a new 5 second delay opening Excel and Word files. Everything's slower. What a mess! It's unusable. Waiting for some help Running NAV on a XP SP3 set up that could benifit from an upgrade to at least Vista, but saving money for a complete rebuild up to a new 64 bit system with 7 on it.

Autoprotect was shut off and today when it was supposed to scan said critical error cannot scan. Hope they get this fixed soon, cannot really afford to get new AV software right now and I don't trust the free ones out there. Same problem.. Newer definitions didn't solve the problem. It seems that using the intelligent updater was a mistake.

Now the app is stuck on "Refreshing" when going to the status page. I don't think it did that before. If the Norton product interface shows "Refreshing", you can try registering the jscript.

I didn't do anything with the 1st link.. I have , not and it was pretty specific you need to choose the solution for your exact error. I am not getting script errors. The 2nd link in regards to registering the jscript. You can not close the program either. Task manager won't close it. I have to reboot the rig and then there is a program that wont close so the rig can reboot. Funny thing though.. The rig is crawling, real slow and it appears the app is still working.

In an effort to solve this problem, I restored a drive image from a few days ago. I also had to do a windows update to restore updates installed since the drive image. NAV wanted to stop some the the update scripts. I suppose I could start posting some debug info but I am pretty sure symantec can reproduce this problem.

Once the Norton is installed from the computer restart the computer and got the website below and save the Norton setup file to the desktop. Norton Standard Edition - www. Norton Premier Edition - www. Back to top. Reg: Sep Kudos 0. I have the same question 0. Reg: Feb
