Fair warning though, it is claimed that some skill points will not work when using a skin. After getting through the factory, and it now being operational, the area outside will now have a lot of rotating platforms so go past the smuggler, past the ship, Up to the platform to the left of the cave entrance, opposite the platform with the armor vendor.
You will see rotating platforms, follow these around the map, pick up the raritanium on the way if you want, but if you stick the the platforms they will circle around to the factory exit, and your golden bolt will be on the platform overlooking the ship attached to the factory An easier way to get up to this platform is to jump off of the elevator on its way down, or up since you can go back to it The elevator is found after getting through the factory, at the end, or past the devices guy from the ship if you are returning to the planet.
NOTE: you can only make the elevator go back up, if you just got off of it going down. Double jump, and glide to the newly created gel pad, use it to jump up to this second platform, and the first bolt is up there. The second bolt: Take off from any of the robo wing launch pads, then hit select and look for a large circular path on the map, it's in the middle of the map with launch pad icons on the map at either end of the circle.
The higher landing is where the golden bolt can be found, but you can land any- where on the circle and fight your way around to it. You will have to shoot down multicolored targets while fighting of Slag's minions. I would reccomend coming back to these after a play through and ignoring the enemies completely, while focusing solely on the "bonus targets". In the first courtyard, to the right there is a force field that can be taken down using the decryptor, then hop up the newly opened path to find a golden bolt.
The Second Bolt - After you get the statue pieces, and get past the ferris wheel and the first set of sling shot spinning carts, you will come to an open area with a bonus "? Stay to the left, near the edge overlooking the water, follow the ledge to where a rock wall comes down and ALMOST blocks your path, you will see raritanium chests on the other side of this wall so double jump around the wall, and the golden bolt is right in front of you The Third Bolt - After you take the elevator up to where to CLAPPER robots break through glass and try to Squish you, you will have to use a jump pad to launch ratchet to the next area, a circular path around a fountain.
From here you will go to the opening where you will see a long zip line. Don't use the zipline just yet, step out to the ledge under the zipline, and look left. You will see a path with flame throwing statues, double jump and glide down to this path. At the end of it is the golden bolt.
The Fourth Bolt - You will need to return with Clank's geo laser to get to this bolt. This time take the zipline down. FIght your way around the fountain, kill off the enemies coming down the stairs, and then notice the two soldiers firing at you from a ledge across the open area.
Kill these guys off then walk up to the ledge they were on, Clanks green geo sensing thing will go off and point you towards a "weak wall" to the left of the ledge, use your spiffy 6 axis control to cut the wall down, and you will find your final bolt on this world e Nundac Asteroid Ring One Bolt here: Use the teleporter and go to the beta teleporter. From here, follow the bath until you see a swing shot off to the left, kill all the small enemies around you first, then swing shot 3 times to a distant rock all by itself.
The golden bolt is on this rock. Raise the door with the helipod, kill the hungry pirates, raise the ship with helipods, then the door which will let a fan blow the ship out to sea, use the slingshots to the left to get to the next landing, break the raritanium crates, and double jump and glide to the land down and to your left. Use the next set of slingshots to the left on this island to get to the next landing.
Here you will use helipods to lift a counter weight out to the right which will lower a HUGE platform, get on the platform, and stay there until the helipods break away from the counter weight, which will then lift the platform back up, jump off to your right, and you will find a golden bolt The second Bolt - you must return to Ardolis after getting the holo pirate disguise from Captain Quark in the second trip to the arena.
From the ship use the teleporter and back track. The hallway leading back to the control center will have a pirate door you can dance to open on your right going backwards through the level, or your left going forwards.
Dance your jig and the golden bolt is behind the door. The Third Bolt - Work your way back further through the stage backwards. Get to the room with two levels of pirates, some on the ground level, and then you will see some more above you on cross walks, in a large cavern area.
Follow the wall around to the left backwards or right if you're going through it forward until you get to the pirate wall, dance your jig again, take the elevator up to that second level I mentioned earlier, take the walkways straight first, then take it right when it branches off to an opening across the way where the golden bolt is found.
Right after a nano tech health ring, the screen will turn hard to the right, you will have a short time to aim down and left, where the target will be 4. Walk to the back left corner of this area to a grav ramp. Jump down to the platform with the zipline, don't use the zipline though. Double jump and glide to the roof of the building in front of you if you're looking down the zip line.
On the right half of this roof, manipulate the camera to look down under ratchets feet on the side facing the lava lake. You can jump down to a hidden room under this roof. The golden bolt is found here. The Second Bolt - Take the gyro cycle to where it lands on an island. Look to your left to see a small ledge, jump up to this platform, and walk around the rock wall, until you stumble into some bushes over looking the lava, the golden bolt is in these bushes. Look at the orange and grey industrial platform down and to the left.
You can jump to the land and walk over to this platform, work your way around to the back corner to find the golden bolt, or from the platform at the end of the gelatonium plant itself you can glide down to the bolt directly.
The Second Bolt - From the ship landing, go to the robo wing launcher, follow the Zoni rings until you come out of the cave and there is a large dinosaur directly to your right next to a building with flying insects on the building. Collapse the wings, and go to the feet of the dinosaur, he will lift one foot at a time, two of which are hiding red circular buttons. Time it right, and step on these two buttons, then the third is out in the open, with all three depressed, a door in the mountain wall will open.
The golden bolt is in here The Third Bolt - From the ships landing, go to the Robo Wing launch pad, fly straight ahead, on the map, the area you are looking for is for platforms all by themselves in the water half way up the map on the right, land here. Fight off the working robots, and in the middle of the lowest square platform, top left on the map, you will find the golden bolt The Fourth bolt - From the ship landing, go to the robo wing launcher, hit select to bring up the map, fly to the bottom left cluster of islands on the map, and look for the LARGE dinosaur, same size as the second bolt dinosaur - it will be near water between two outcrops of land after the large Gel tower in the middle of these islands.
Collapse the wings over the dinosaur and glide down to its back. The golden bolt is on its back. As you approach this grav ramp from the previous room, you will be staring at a black net, on the other side of the net you will see some icy platforms and sling shot points. These are used to get to a holo plan piece, you will have to double jump out of the room, NOT following the grav ramp! But rather, gliding down and to your left to a chunk of land.
The player controls Ratchet, the last lombax alive who wields an arsenal of weapons, gadgets and devices, and carries his sidekick Clank as a backpack allowing him to make use of the Heli-Pack and Thruster-Pack. Ratchet has access to his core moveset from previous titles, and obtains an entirely new set of weapons and gadgets, as well as devices , nonupgradable support weapons. The duo travel between the planets of the Polaris Galaxy using the Aphelion , a sentient lombax ship, completing a set of objectives on a planet before obtaining coordinates for the next planet to progress through the story.
Objectives normally require the player to control Ratchet and traverse through a linear section on a planet, fighting enemies on the way and using gadgets to complete puzzles. Other objectives are varied.
For some missions, the player controls Clank as he commands Zoni to complete a set of puzzles to traverse through a section. At other times, the player flies the Aphelion through an on-rails section to defeat enemies normally Space Pirates , by either flying the ship or controlling the turret on the back as Clank, before defeating a boss at the end of the section and then progressing onward.
Ratchet can also participate in the Imperial Fight Festival on planet Mukow , a set of gladiator battles from which bolts can be earned. Ratchet can additionally collect Leviathan Souls from various planets, traversing open areas to fight Leviathans to obtain and sell their souls to the Smuggler. The player can collect bolts to purchase weapons, Raritanium to purchase weapon upgrades, holo-plans to construct the RYNO IV weapon when traded with the Smuggler, and gold bolts to buy skins.
After completing the game, the player can choose either to warp back before defeating the final boss or replay the game in challenge mode , the latter of which allows the player to keep all of the weapons, devices, and armor they have collected so far and fight more powerful enemies.
In this mode, Ratchet can purchase the Omega version of his weapons to upgrade them beyond their original maximum level. As these weapons are much more expensive, challenge mode has a bolt multiplier, which increases as Ratchet defeats enemies without taking a hit. Ratchet begins with ten units of nanotech , representing his health. This is can be increased by earning experience points from defeating enemies, up to Ratchet can also purchase armor from a GrummelNet armor vendor which can reduce the amount of damage taken.
Tools of Destruction features fifteen completely new weapons. The Combuster and the Fusion Bomb are immediately available for free, while others are either purchased from vendors with bolts, discovered on planets, or in the case of the RYNO IV, obtained from the Smuggler once all holo-plans are acquired.
Weapons can be upgraded from V1 up to V5, at which point its functionality changes, and in challenge mode, an Omega version of the weapon can be purchased, allowing it to be upgraded five more times to VX. Each weapon can also be upgraded using Raritanium from weapon vendors to improve it in areas such as rate of fire, ammunition, and damage, with each also including a special upgrade that, once unlocked, change the weapon significantly.
The game also features eight devices, which provide support in battle. These include the Groovitron , Mr. Zurkon , Transmorpher and Visi-Copter. Devices cannot be upgraded with the exception of the Groovitron, which can be upgraded to the Gold Groovitron when purchased , and ammunition is scarce, meaning they are mostly used in emergencies.
Fourteen gadgets are featured in the game, of which five are original. Other gadgets are earned by completing objectives and are required to progress further through the game. In some sections, the player controls Clank, who can command the Zoni to complete puzzles and traverse areas.
Zoni control is similar to Gadgebot control from previous games, with some differences. The Zoni automatically fire at nearby enemies and allow Clank to slow down time on his own, allowing him to bypass quickly-moving obstacles.
They can be commanded to use Levitate, allowing Clank to hover for a certain amount of time; to use Manipulate, allowing them to fix objects provided he controls enough at a time ; or to use Charge Up, energizing an object allowing Clank to proceed using up the Zoni in the process.
The player sometimes flies the Aphelion through on-rails sections. The Aphelion can move and aim its weapons anywhere on the screen, but is confined to the set path on-rails. The player is tasked to survive through this section and defeat the boss at the end before proceeding.
Along the path, the player should destroy several ships to earn bolts, with larger ships arriving with exposed weak points that can be destroyed to take down the ships. Asteroids can also be destroyed to earn bolts.
During these sections, the player sometimes is given control of Clank, who pilots the turret on the back of the ship, and the player must destroy incoming enemies and projectiles to survive. Once the boss is reached, the player must destroy the boss' weak points to defeat the boss and move on.
Tools of Destruction takes place in the Polaris Galaxy, which is ruled by the cragmite Emperor Tachyon. After leaving planet Kerwan, Ratchet explores several sectors of the galaxy, as well as a few locations in space. The Polaris Galaxy was once home to the lombaxes after they had defeated the cragmites during the Great War , but Tachyon had since drove the lombaxes to near extinction. Abandoned Lombax technology can be found on many planets in the galaxy, such as Fastoon , Sargasso and Rykan V.
Much of it has been found by Max Apogee , a lombax explorer who kept his findings in Apogee Space Station , now home to his daughter Talwyn. Much of the knowledge of the galaxy is contained within the IRIS supercomputer.
Emperor Tachyon controls much of the galaxy, with his drophyd armies defending his own territory and searching the galaxy for lombax technology. There are several planets not ruled by Tachyon, with Igliak as the capital. The galaxy is also home to Space Pirates led by Captain Slag , who attack and loot ships around the galaxy from their hideouts such as Ardolis. Several planets are also controlled by the kerchu , some of the galaxy's greatest architects but also fierce defenders of their territory and hostile to outsiders.
At the start of the game, Ratchet and Clank were on planet Kerwan trying to complete one of Ratchet's new vehicles, the nuclear-powered rocket sled. While Ratchet was assuring him that the vehicle would work fine, Clank received a distress call from Qwark , who was stationed at the Planetary Defense Center. Before Ratchet and Clank arrived at the Defense Center, Metropolis was attacked by an alien race known as the Drophyds , who worked for a villain named Emperor Percival Tachyon , the last of the Cragmites.
The Cragmite Emperor was hunting down Ratchet, who was thought to be the last Lombax in the known universe and the greatest threat to Tachyon's empire. Tachyon tried to make a deal with the duo, stating that if they both surrendered, the Drophyds would leave Metropolis unharmed.
Ratchet and Clank tricked Tachyon; however, and fled into his warship. Having escaped from Kerwan in the warship, Ratchet and Clank were forced into Cryosleep by the ship's autopilot system. Some time later, they crash-landed on planet Cobalia in the Polaris Galaxy. While unconscious, Clank had a vision where he was flying in a strange city with a group of mysterious robots surrounding him saying, "His past is inside.
The duo made their way to a spaceport , where they met the Smuggler. The Smuggler told them that he would take them off Cobalia if they got the nearby Gelatonium Plant working again. After they agreed, he gave Ratchet the Gelanator.
Ratchet and Clank were able to get the plant running again. The Smuggler gave the ride as promised, but only took them as far as Stratus City on planet Kortog. The Smuggler ejected Ratchet and Clank onto the surface of Stratus City after a lifeform scan detected a Lombax signature on his ship.
After fighting through the city, the Zoni upgraded Clank with the Robo-Wings. There they had to flee the planet via an escape pod to the nearest planet, Fastoon , revealed to be a Lombax planet.
When the two landed on the devastated planet, Ratchet wondered where all the Lombaxes were. Clank explained that the planet was deserted years ago. They found an old, destroyed ship named Aphelion.
After finding five Lombax Flight Components scattered around the area, Clank made his way through a Raritanium Mine with the help of the Zoni, and obtained the sixth and final one.
The duo repaired Aphelion, who told them what happened on Fastoon. Look to your right and you will see a series of platforms below you. Jump down and swingshot over to the first island and you can find a holo-plan in the crates.
Follow the platforms across to a Pirate Doorkeeper and do the dance to get inside. There is a gold bolt and Raritanium inside, as well as a platform that will return you to the upper floors. At the place where you take the taxi back to your ship , break the boxes on the platforms above and you will have the next piece. Located on a shadow covered ledge. After jumping across the three small pillars with critters on them near the beginning of the level you will enter a large open grassy area with two metal towers connected by an archway on the opposite side.
A large group of pirates will emerge over the hill and attack you. The ledge will be on your right with a chest of Raritanium and a stack of crates containing the holo-plan. To the right of the first bolt crank you encounter, there is a grav-ramp on the ground behind the turret. Follow it along and break the boxes nearby; the Holo-plan is in one of them. On the battlefield near Aphelion, there are two turret rooms on the left and right that Cronk and Zephyr enter and activate.
Go to the right turret room's entrance and look to the left. Long Jump to the platform that is there and smash the boxes to find the holo-plan piece. Halfway through the level, once you pass the Weapon Vendor and Grav-ramp, there is a large domed room with a pitfall to the city below in the middle.
To the right of the room there is a raised platform with a Cragmite. The boxes nearest to the entrance contain the holo-plan piece. This holo-plan is not attainable before the final return to Fastoon when the Cragmites are over-running the planet.
After you have crossed the Grav-ramp and used the Decryptor , you will have to fight a bunch of Cragmites, while managing to step on the Tri-pads. The holo-plan is in the crates directly across the room from the weapon vendor.
